This is Yang Mi at 125 jin, age 36

A 1.67-meter-tall mainland Chinese actress, Yang Mi

When filming “Mysterious Island”

Director Chung Kai Cheung’s collaboration with lead actress Yang Mi

Was filled with hardship and sweat

At first, the director was not familiar with Yang Mi

For the sake of making a low-budget, fully financed film

The two of them started from scratch to find their rhythm

Overcoming language communication

And the dual challenge of the filming environment

The crew went all the way to a deserted island in Southeast Asia for location shooting

The environment was harsh and filming was extremely difficult

Yang Mi put in high-intensity effort throughout

Shooting day and night with her schedule inverted

Her physical strength and mental state

Were under tremendous pressure

Even when she suddenly developed a high fever

She still insisted on staying in the mud

Finishing her scenes without a single complaint

The director felt both distressed and full of admiration

When he learned she needed medical treatment

He immediately adjusted the shooting schedule

Fully showing his consideration for the actress

In order to present a truly frightening effect

The director strictly controlled every single shot

Yang Mi also did her utmost, pushing past her own limits

Pouring her whole heart into portraying the character’s fear and struggle

She completed many dangerous scenes without using a stand-in

It was precisely this dedication, regardless of the cost

And their mutual trust and cooperation

That allowed this low-budget film

To become a box office dark horse

The facts prove

Hard work will always be seen by the audience
