I am Elias, son of Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, to the people of Italy And

to everyone who believes in justice and humanity,

we appeal to you today to stand with us, to raise your voices,

and to take to the streets in defense of a human being, an innocent doctor

whose rights are being stripped away before the eyes of the world.

We appeal to you to put pressure to stop the unjust decision to attempt to renew

the detention of my father, Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya,

for six more months without any charge,

even though the charge sheet from the Israeli Public Prosecution is devoid of any

clear allegation.

We do not understand how a savior of children can be tortured and

imprisoned in, I mean,

the prison of those who kill children.

We do not understand how a savior of children,

that is, how a doctor who devoted his life to protecting and treating them,

can be imprisoned in a place known for its injustice and for killing children.

What kind of justice is this? And what law allows a human being and a

doctor to be held without charge, without trial, and without a voice?

We are a broken family, living in fear, our hearts are torn apart.

For more than 75 days,

my father has been denied meeting his lawyer, isolated and far away.

In the Israeli desert,

and we do not know how my father is or what his medical condition

is and psychological condition, and we do not know if my father is all right.

Our hearts are being eaten away and our hearts are being torn apart.

Every day we live feels like a lifetime.

Every piece of news we receive from inside the Israeli prisons,

we are afraid it will be the last. This fear for my father’s fate grows inside us

every day in deadly silence. We say to you today, with heavy hearts,

do not leave us alone. Your solidarity may be our last hope.

Your voice may bring back

to us a father we have been waiting for for a long time,

and a life that was stolen from us. Save what is left of my father’s life inside the

Israeli prisons.

Save all the medical staff detained inside the Israeli prisons,

which means their number exceeds 375 medical personnel without any charge.

They are not criminals,

their only so- called crime is that they were beside the sons of their people,

treating them and easing their pain under the total

siege that the northern Gaza Strip was going through.

We place this as a trust in Our loved ones, do not leave us alone. We, like Dr.

Hossam’s family Abu Safiya and all the families of the prisoners,

live the same suffering and the same pain and live with the same fear and the same

terror every day.

The prisoner is tortured inside the prison and his family lives

the same suffering outside the prison. We ask you, look at us with eyes of mercy.

It does not mean my father is not a criminal or guilty so that he deserves what he

gets inside the Israeli prisons. We ask you, stand in solidarity with us,

go out and express your

anger for the sake of stopping this unjust decision against my father and against

all the prisoners in the Israeli prisons. And may the

peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
