Hafez al-Assad's Military Orders

attended this meeting and heard it myself.

Hafez al-Assad,

may God have mercy on him, picked up the phone

and called every field commander, one by one, from

his level down to

the brigade commander, then down to the battalion commander

and then to the regiment commander.

What did he tell them?

One by one: “My son, so-and-so, I am Hafez al-Assad.

is to fight.

Do not be influenced by any propaganda or

any

media

and do not become confused.

The standing order is to fight and not retreat,

so that no officer comes along like in the ’67 war. I

spoke to the division commander, and he did not answer me
