Discussion on Afghanistan and Iraq Conflicts
Please
don't forget history.
We've been there.
We've gone through it.
We know what happened in the region.
We have stood against the Taliban since day one.
We have been the force that fought the Taliban.
We, we were the force that brought the— that kept the
government, the legitimate government of Afghanistan
alive,
so that when after 2001, the
United States decided to
join the right side,
it had somebody
to have
fight the Taliban.
Islam is innocent of terrorism and the destruction it causes, and we helped
the U.S. forces in Afghanistan eliminate the hub of terrorism
there and establish security.
They took their audacity so far that they
insulted the sanctity of the Iranian nation. They
said that the Iranian nation is the axis of evil.
They committed this
unforgivable insult against the Iranian nation
at a time when the greatest cooperation was extended to them in Afghanistan and
Iraq. These
They are so brazen that in Afghanistan, we cooperated with them, and in Iraq
we cooperated with them, on nuclear issues, every commitment they made was accepted
was.
Then Mr. Bush came and brazenly said Iran
was part of the axis of evil after all that cooperation.
Thank you, Mr. President, for providing this opportunity.
Thank you to the American people for their sympathy with the plight of
the Iraqi people and their help in getting rid of
the dictatorship and establishing democracy in Iraq.
Thank you, sir. Thank you all. Prime
Minister.
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
I extend my sincere thanks to Mr. President for his concern,
and I also extend my sincere thanks to the members of Congress
who joined us at this base. As I stand before you today,
I salute you and deeply appreciate
what you have offered and accomplished. Once again, through you,
I extend my greetings, respect, and sincere thanks for what
you helped us with, what you accomplished, and your part in accomplishing it in Iraq.
Thank you very much.
Do you expect
an Israeli political presence in Iraq?
Politically?
Such as signing a peace treaty, an Israeli embassy.
It may or may not be policy.
An alliance? We don't know when, I mean.
If U.S. forces remain in Iraq, what would your position be
on that?
I have no position at all regarding whether they stay or leave.
This is up to the ruling of the religious authority, and I am not a religious authority.
Is there no ruling from the religious authority regarding the
American forces?
Well, there is a ruling, a ruling against jihad. Of course, it exists.
In cases of inability and so on, jihad is waived, indeed, it is forbidden.
So, what is the position of the religious authority
regarding the presence of U.S. forces, which you issue rulings to people about?
Exactly? How should they deal with them?
Any major enemy that cannot be resisted, whether it is a coalition or
otherwise.
He believed that we could not resist them through armed resistance,
resist the Americans.
But they would ask him, "How should we deal with them?" He said, "If an American buys
something from you, tell him, 'When are you leaving?'
If he comes to buy matches from the shop,
tell him, 'When are you leaving?'
In other words, put pressure on them.
Ask them when they're leaving.
Saddam's downfall.
It wasn't through military or resistance means or
Iraqi jihadist means,
it was through the American military machine.
Yes.
When the Americans entered Iraq with their
brutal machine, they found a partner
waiting for them.
Who was this partner?
Iran. So, in my assessment and reading,
the Iranians and Americans agreed
on governing
Iraq, for its political scene to take a
shape dictated by Israeli will,
implemented by the Americans and welcomed by the Iranians.
The Shiites relished it,
many Kurds strongly supported it,
the Sunnis feared it.
Iran is the one that supported the American invasion of Iraq.
Okay, Iran.
Iran.
Okay.
So that Iraq would be broken, and so it could ultimately occupy it.
Okay.
That's what happened.

Please don't forget history. We've been there. We've gone through it. We know what happened in the region.
We have stood against the Taliban since day one. We have been the force that fought the Taliban. We, we were the force that brought the-- that kept the government, the legitimate government of Afghanistan alive,
so that when after 2001, the United States decided to join the right side, it had somebody to have
fight the Taliban.
Thank you sir. Thank you all. Prime minister.
