Ladies and gentlemen, thank you very much for the invitation, and now I will switch to speaking Polish.

Today's meeting…

We live in a reality in which technology has become a natural part of childhood.

For the young generation, the digital world is not an add-on, it is everyday life.

This is a huge opportunity for development, but also a responsibility for all of us.

As a mother, I see especially clearly how important it is for children to feel safe in this world and to have wise support from adults in it.

Today I would like to particularly emphasize two dimensions of this responsibility.

The safety of children in the online environment and the leveling of educational and developmental opportunities.

First, safety.

Children and young people are spending more and more time on the internet.

They often do not yet have the tools to properly recognize threats.

We are talking about cyberbullying, addictions, dangerous contacts, but also about manipulation of information and the loss of a sense of privacy.

These are real experiences of young people, often invisible to adults, to parents and teachers.

That is why it is so important that we do not leave children alone in the digital world.

Very often the youngest are already online.

Before we adults are fully prepared to guide them safely in it.

In Poland we also observe these phenomena and we see how important it is to strengthen children’s awareness and to support parents and teachers in this area.

They need an approach that combines several elements.

Education, so that children know how to use technology safely.

Support so that parents and teachers feel competent and fulfilled in this role.

Responsibility also lies with technology creators, who should take into account the well-being of the youngest already at the design stage of their solutions.

The safety of children in the digital world cannot be an add-on.

It must be its foundation.

Zanim my, dorośli, jeszcze w nim jesteśmy w pełni przygotowani, aby je bezpiecznie poprowadzić.
