President Sebastián Piñera together with the ministers of transport and telecommunications and of science
announce the start of the bidding process for the 5G network. Let us listen.
One of the threats we analyzed on that occasion with the leaders of the world
is the possibility that machines may be able to read our thoughts
and may even be able to insert thoughts, insert feelings.
Some say that the best way to predict the future is by inventing it.
Well, that is what we all aspire to.
5G is a tremendous leap forward, it is a cosmic leap, it is a Copernican leap
because what 5G technology will really mean is an even greater change in our lives
than what all previous technologies in this field have meant.
The possibility that machines can read our thoughts
and can even insert thoughts, insert feelings.
That is going to change our lives, and 5G will turn
into the true nervous system of our society, just like ours.
I ask myself, how important is it that the heart beats for human survival?
Vital.
And is anyone worried about the heart beating?
No, there is an intelligent system inside our body
that makes multiple organs carry out tremendously sophisticated functions
with perfect coordination.
And very few decisions reach our consciousness.
Most are taken by this nervous system in an autonomous and intelligent way.
The same is going to happen with many other spheres of our lives thanks to this technology.
And an imperative whose urgency and importance do not require a second reading
is to modernize our State so that it is a change that reaches every household in our country.
And I understand that the gesture of the rectors is one of enthusiastic approval.
