In dealing with Iran, the issues come down to three essential matters. Postpone, contain, or defeat. Postpone, contain, or defeat. Now I want to explain to you why postpone and contain in the end cannot work. What is our objective?

To postpone Iran's nuclear program and enrichment? To contain it? To contain it for a short period of time, for 20 years, forever? Or to permanently end it and all the other threats born of the regime by defeating the regime, that is, eliminating the regime.

Even more, when a regime like that in Iran combines religious fundamentalism and radical political ideology, that is, an international revolutionary-based religious fundamentalism said to be commanded by Allah that requires the elimination of all obstacles by whatever means possible or necessary. And the only way the Twelfth Imam will reveal himself and ensure that peace and prosperity

and the precepts and principles of the Koran will be properly applied and enforced throughout the world is by conquering and destroying non-believers. How many of you watching me right now believe a paper agreement with the great Satan, us, the United States of America, will stop that? How many of you?

And herein lies the problem. Islamist scholars who have and do write about all of this, imams who preach this daily in their mosques, and the Iranian regime that husbands all its resources to promote this have told us and tell us now that the West must be conquered and destroyed. Our country is the biggest of the obstacles, and it must be eliminated.

Israel is seen as the greatest immediate threat, as it is in the Middle East, closest to the heart of the Iranian Revolution, and stands in the way of uniting Muslim forces in the revolutionary crusade demanded by Allah. For the regime, it lives to conquer, destroy, and kill in pursuit of its reason for existing, its only reason for existing.

It will never adhere to any agreement that seeks to limit, contain, or manage its God-required revolution. To do so would be to defy Allah and to destroy itself. Therefore, Sharia creates a justification for deception agreement when it comes to pursuing and spreading the faith and the ideology.

It's called taqiyah. We've talked about this before. Taqiyah. I wish everybody at the State Department, the Defense Department, the National Security Council, all ambassadors, all envoys, as well as all members of Congress of both parties

were required to at least take one course on this. At least one course. Taqiyah allows for deceit, connivance, and all the rest of it. For among other things, protection of the community. In Iran's case, the protection of the revolution.

Do whatever you have to do. The revolution must survive. It must thrive. Period. So what does all this mean?

It means the goal of the Iranian regime is survival. It might lose military battles. It might lose military and industrial infrastructure. It might lose its first and second tier of leadership. But the regime is the ideology.

It's the revolution. That means the fundamental Islamic revolutionary political, religious, and governing structure survives. Like the communist Chinese.
