Xabi Alonso’s last day as coach,
after coming back from Arabia, they arrive with the defeat, with the feeling that,
well, we have competed, but it has not been enough.
We have to say first that Xabi Alonso neither leaks nor has an entourage,
it is a position he took from the moment he left for Bayer Leverkusen,
obviously he does not live outside the football world and he has friends and
acquaintances in the press,
but he prefers to live away from the media noise. What we do know today from
people close to
the coaching staff of Xabi is that the coach,
in that last meeting in which he was dismissed,
made it clear to the club that it cannot give so much power to the players,
that he considers this has been the main problem of his time at Madrid,
that they left him unprotected, that he is surprised
by that defense permanent interference in the locker room by the club,
and that this undermined his authority,
and that, since they throw it in his face that he does not control the locker room,
he believes it is impossible to control a locker room when the club always takes
the side of the players and not of the coach, even when he is right in
sporting decisions,
and it has been a difficult day because… I repeat, what people close to Xabi say is
that he left
at Christmas thinking he could stay, that it could be fixed,
that in the last week of December he had seen a series of green shoots,
you could say, that allowed him
to think about a second half of the season to fight for the titles,
but he believes this was already decided and that the last few days in Arabia
have been more an agony than a pleasure.
