Inside Lahore, there is a big, grand shrine of a great Auliya, which many people visit.

Naturally, since I was a Muslim living there, I was passing by, I went into that Auliya’s shrine…

There was a man sitting in one corner. His personality was very attractive.

He had a long, thick white beard. He called me over.

He said, “Are you Hindu?” I said, “No.” He says, “Come with me.”

I went with him. He took me through two or four alleys and brought me into a small room.

He closed the door. He said, “Look, you are Hindu.”

I said, “Why do you say that?” He said, “Look, your ears are pierced.”

I said, “Yes, that is true, when I was born, they were like that.” I said, “I converted later.”

He said, “You still have not really converted.” He said, “Get plastic surgery for this.”

He said, "It’s okay to wander around like this… Look, do you know why I said that?"

I said, "Why?" He said, "Because I am Hindu too. These people killed my entire family.

I am somehow just getting through my days here."

And then he opened a cupboard. Inside there was one image of Shiva and one of Durga…

…that was placed there. He said, "Look, I worship them.

But when I go outside, I behave like a religious man in their way."

This is just a small incident.
