Regional Security Meeting Insights

General, you held a four-party meeting hosted by

the Islamic Republic of Iran,

and I wanted to ask you about this

meeting and the negotiations that were

discussed at this meeting.

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Mr. Asim Munir,

Pakistan's army commander,

in a meeting

during his previous visit, a week or ten days ago,

told me that

if

you agree, Mr. Amir Khalid and I,

the defense minister

of Saudi Arabia,

and Mr. Ibrahim Kalin, the head of

national security

of Turkey, would come so that we could both

congratulate you on your

appointment and discuss regional

issues.

I accepted, and it was arranged that these

gentlemen would come today.

We had very good discussions.

I feel that a new atmosphere

has taken shape in the region.

Thanks to the resistance of the Iranian people

and the strength of the armed forces,

I sensed a very positive

atmosphere in the gentlemen's

discussions.

All three of them

believed that if our four countries unite,

many of the region's problems

will be solvable.

That is why we agreed

that these meetings should continue

for the development of regional

cooperation and to achieve a security arrangement.

We also formed a working group

to work on expert-level issues

so that between every two meetings, they can come

present, and we can decide and move forward.

And

of

the results that we

agreed on was that the security

of the region where we live

must be homegrown, meaning achieved by the countries

themselves,

and we must prevent all forms of

foreign intervention in this region.

We must prevent it.

There was also particular emphasis

on Israel's occupation of many areas.

It was stressed

that Israel must withdraw from southern Lebanon,

southern Syria, Gaza, and the West Bank

of Jordan, and must stop these

acts of aggression.

My assessment is that,

thank God, the Iranian people's resistance is yielding results

more and more each day.
