Protests for Clean Water in Haryana

There has been a lot of talk about the protests of Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party.

But in Chainat village, 200 kilometers away from Delhi,

in Chainat village of Haryana,

the villagers are sitting on a hunger strike, protesting.

Why?

The reason is not an eight-lane highway, IIT, IIM,

and the villagers are not demanding an AIIMS.

After 78 years of independence, the villagers

are demanding clean water.

The villagers are saying that our water

is such that even our animals do not want to drink it,

how can we drink it?

They ask if our SP, DC

and our politicians can drink this water.

If they drink this water, we will drink it too.

But when they cannot drink this water,

then what crime have the villagers committed that they are forced to drink it?

Last night in Chainat village,

the police went and fired tear gas shells.

Clashes broke out with the protesters.

The protesters allege that their women were beaten.

It has been more than ten days, the village elders are sitting on a hunger strike unto death.
