An order was given to the officials to announce that one must pay for the right to wage war.

They hung this one, but left the red one.

They combined this noble flag, under which we marched to fight for independence

with that bloody flag that disgraced itself for 73 years with social repressions and the defense of lawlessness.

With that flag, which is a symbol of blood and injustice.

And I am very grateful to those who were outraged by this combination.

I thank those who rushed to the steps of the Verkhovna Rada and began to demand decisively that this disgrace be stopped,

not to disgrace us or our colors.

With that bloody rag, Kravchuk took the microphone and addressed the people in the square,

saying there had been a misunderstanding, which would now be corrected.

So then, what has happened is the victory of the yellow-blue flag over the red,

this is your victory.

And I thank those people and you for expressing your outrage so decisively.
