Japanese Pairs Skating Success
In terms of pairs, for me, I have to say that the most magical, beautiful thing that I think
I saw was the Japanese pair team come in second.
You know, they have been working so hard this their entire careers.
I've known Ruichi since I skated in Detroit back then when he came straight from Japan,
still as a single skater.
So to see him go from single skating, doing triple axels on the practice with me,
to now being a Paris silver medalist in Skate America, I think it's huge.
And they've also shown that they're able to compete with the Russians,
and they're able to compete at that level.
And who knows what that means for them in terms of the Olympics,
but all I know is that they're going to be there,
and they're going to be there to compete with all of the teams.
And it's going to be really exciting to see.
I remember Ruichi in the lobby at Detroit Skating Club doing his first couple of pairs lifts,
and just working through understanding how to lift someone over your head.
And it's just so cool to see how far Japanese pairs is going.
