Every civilization and every era of mankind

will, whether consciously or not, orient their

lives around some moral hierarchy and bend the

knee to a governing authority. It will be either

one rooted in truth and reason, or one degraded

by distortion and destruction. Under the previous

administration, the latter prevailed. Truth

was sidelined, science was weaponized, and our

rights as Americans, as parents, and most fundamentally

as humans made in the imago Dei, the image of

God, were infringed upon. Our citizens were

coerced, they were lied to, and they were intimidated

with fear. Physicians like myself and nurses

were threatened with loss of license. And voices

crying out in the wilderness, like Robert F.

Kennedy Jr. or Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, were canceled.

As the 18th Assistant Secretary for Health,

I stand before you today to say that we are

fighting day and night to put the abominable

ways of the past to rest. And I promise you,

I make a compact with you, that we will never,

never, never let this happen again.
