When an Iranian knows you are Egyptian, does

the way they treat you change? How do they treat you?

Yes, it changes in a positive way, of course there is a very great love

for Egypt and the Egyptians. There is real appreciation, and when you talk to them,

they say to you,“ We are a people of civilization.” That is what they say,

meaning that countries with an ancient civilization, we respect them.

I mean, I heard this from more than

one ordinary person.

So they are welcoming toward Egyptians, and you know of course that Egyptians

go to Iran without a visa.- Right.- For twenty days. But of course we

get a visa because

we are going there to work.- For work you need a visa,

even if you are Egyptian.- So we need a visa. And by the way,

I actually got the visa on the same day of travel. So maybe this

goes back to the way of entering the country of course,

I mean I took the visa from the embassy and went to the airport

just two hours before the flight. So there is a feeling of ease with Egyptians,

there is a sense that there are old, renewed relations between the two countries.

And this emotional bond between Iranians

and Egyptians grew stronger because of the Egyptian people's stance on the war,

and not the official one, of course.

I mean, surely the official position is different from the people's stance in Egypt.

But there was a popular position that many Egyptian cultural and political

elites expressed. They openly declared that they stood with Iran, considering

that it was facing the Zionist enemy.
