Discussion on Messi and Football Strategy
I'm going to tell you a very funny story
Speaking of Messi
Look, that's where I met Messi
I was coaching Sevilla Fútbol Club
In the Category Division of Honor
And we played a Copa del Rey match against Sevilla
Of Sevilla-Barcelona
Fútbol Club Barcelona
And we went there to Barcelona, they had spoken very highly to me
About a boy named Messi
Well, obviously we gave him
At the beginning
Man-to-man marking
And... in the 70th minute
We were tied at zero-zero
And when they gave a card
I substituted the player who was marking him
And in 15 minutes he scored four goals
Does this mean
That we are going to mark him man-to-man?
No, but we are going to pay close attention
To him, yes
But exactly the same way they will have to pay close attention
To our players
You always have to pay special attention to great players
What happens is that in this match
there are many players
both in the Argentine national team and Spain's
that we have to keep an eye on
But one of them, obviously, is Lionel Messi
And the relationship
How both Scaloni and I understand the match
Well, I think we are very excited about it
We have a great relationship
We are great competitors
We know what football is about
We know we are going to go out and win our match
But at the same time, we feel very happy
to be able to face each other
We have, I insist, a mutual admiration
and a recognition
that we show each other in the conversations we have
