In the battle at the Shaar HaNegev junction, dozens upon dozens of Hamas terrorists

took over the strategic junction, they murdered civilians there,

and in the fighting, Yamam fighters and IDF soldiers were killed. In the footage

that we are publishing this evening for the first time, you can see

Brigadier General Roman Gofman, without a vest, without a helmet, with

only his personal weapon, seeking contact in an encounter with Hamas

terrorists at the Shaar HaNegev junction. He finds cover behind a road

sign, drops to a kneeling position, goes into a firing stance. In the

exchange of fire with the Hamas terrorists, who are already well positioned

and dug in and are raining deadly, hellish fire on every vehicle passing there,

Brigadier General Roman Gofman is shot in the leg, he drags himself back,

limping backward, and there links up with a police and IDF force that is fighting

at the junction. An officer with the rank of major puts a tourniquet on him

to stop the bleeding, and then evacuation forces are called in to evacuate him

to the nearest hospital, Barzilai Hospital

in Ashkelon.
