There were those who promised free houses in the elections, taking selfies

in front of the rubble and posting them on social media.

Instead of sincerely sharing the sorrow of our disaster victims…

there were those who wandered

around like earthquake tourists. There were those who said the government

would be buried under this wreckage… … and pinned all their hopes on our failing.

There were provocateurs who tried to stir things up with lies and

false news.

While we were giving our all and sweating to heal the wounds…

there were the heartless who exploited the disaster of the century.

Just because they did not vote in the elections,

there were those who insulted our earthquake victims… …

and those who threw them out of the guesthouses where they were staying.

Look, now not a single one of them is around.

There are no earthquake tourists. No more populists. No one chasing ratings.

No one spreading disinformation.

There’s no one saying we’ll give your homes to refugees. None of those who try to

set the state and the nation against each other are here. But we are here.
