Why Are US States Buying Israel Bonds Alongside Federal Aid
Hey, what's up America? Why are so many American states giving their
money to Israel? Can somebody tell me why
American states have given their taxpayer money to
Israel on top of federal assistance?
And it's not a few states, it's actually quite a lot.
Let's go over this because damn. So since
2024, the state of New York has given Israel
approximately $310 million.
The state of Ohio has given $262.5
million.
The state of Texas has given between 140 and
280 million, not exactly sure how those figures
round out. Florida, from the state treasury, gave 200 to
$250 million.
South Carolina has given $155 million.
Illinois has given about $120 million.
The state of Indiana, which is largely poverty-stricken, has
given Israel $110 million.
Arkansas, 55 million, Pennsylvania,
56 million, Oklahoma 52.5
million, Georgia 25 million, Arizona
20 million, Mississippi 20 million, Louisiana 10 to
20 million, and Alabama $10 million.
Now, these are considered purchases for
municipalities
or, quote, "support." Now the federal government has
given
approximately $3.8 billion per year,
3.3 billion in foreign military financing, 500
million for joint missile defense programs, and of course since
October 7th, we've given $21.7 billion
in aid. This was described as regular aid, plus of course
emergency aid. Now, not to be outdone, since
2024, give or take, Germany's given 326
million euro. The United Kingdom, including F35
parts starting 2024, have given approximately 128
million pounds. And France, Italy, Canada, Czech Republic,
Serbia, and Hungary have done similar, but most of them are one-off
equipment transfers or sales. So from what we're seeing, no
other government comes close to the scale of US aid
for Israel. But my question is, why are the states
giving money also on top of the federal government?
We led this video with the amount of states that were giving money
to Israel. So if we're giving billions of dollars to
Israel from
the federal government, and of course European nations, why
are the
states at the state level emptying out their treasuries to
Israel as well? Now, not every state is doing this,
obviously. But also remember on top of what I
mentioned, North
Carolina, Michigan, Minnesota, they have sold or let
smaller Israeli bond holdings expire after
campaigns to divest. So some people are pulling back.
However, we're also learning that since 2023, combined
US states and localities bought more than $1.7 billion
in Israeli bonds after October 7th.
So I'm not a fan of Hamas, let's be very clear on that,
but it seems very odd that the federal government
is giving aid to
Israel and states are also on the side giving
aid to Israel. I think that states should be barred from
giving money in foreign assistance of any kind.
So this means that your federal tax dollars are going for aid to
Israel, and then also your state tax dollars in
some capacities
are also going for aid to Israel and other nations as
well. It's kinda like double-dipping and bullshit.
