Ali's Call to Prayer: Ali Akbar and the Karbala Elegy
In recent days, this elegy that has gone viral on social media is something I want to tell you about.
The adhan, the adhan, Ali’s adhan.
Most people think the name Ali here refers to our Master, Imam Ali.
Yet this cry is a lament for the grandchild of that great plane tree, Imam Ali Akbar.
So who was Imam Ali Akbar?
The son of Imam Husayn, and the apple of Imam Ali’s eye, his grandson.
His mother’s name was Layla, and her name is also mentioned in the elegy.
And historical sources sum up Imam Ali Akbar in a single sentence.
The person who most resembled the Messenger of God.
In his face, in his character, in his voice, in his manners.
The Companions would say, when we missed the Prophet, we would look at Ali Akbar.
That is why understanding this elegy is very, very important.
That dark day, Karbala, that moment when thirst, loneliness, and sorrow reached their peak.
He sends forward his son, a piece of his own soul, Ali Akbar, who carries the Prophet’s scent.
And according to the narrations, that final call to prayer is recited by Ali Akbar in the Prophet’s own voice.
Can you imagine?
The heart of a father listening to that call to prayer, recited by his child in his grandfather’s voice.
So that is why the elegy says, call to prayer after call to prayer, it is Ali’s call.
Because that call to prayer is not just a summons, it is a farewell, it is a truth.
Another name mentioned in the elegy is also Hazrat Abbas.
That too is unfortunately being forgotten.
You know, the reflection on earth of that loyalty, courage, and devotion.
The brother of Hazrat Husayn, and the heroic uncle of Ali Akbar.
From now on, when you listen to this elegy, you will not hear just a melody and lyrics.
In it there is the pain of a history, the cry of a father, and the tremendous submission of a son.
Don't you think the time has come for everyone to know Karbala?

Peki Hazreti Ali Ekber kimdi?
Hazreti Hüseyin'in oğlu, Hazreti Ali'nin ise göz bebeği, torunu.
Sahabeler derdi ki, Peygamber'i özlediğimizde Ali Ekber'e bakardık.
Hazreti Hüseyin'in kardeşi, Ali Ekber'in ise kahraman amcası.
