CERN's Large Hadron Collider Upgrade Plans
June the 29th 6 a.m. We switch off the Large Hadron Collider for four years
We're replacing about 1.2 kilometers of the 27 kilometer ring with the high luminosity
LHC magnets this will give us a machine that's ten times brighter than the Large Hadron Collider
Ten times more data
So it really is an opportunity to explore the universe in a way we haven't done before
And what that does is when the particles come around and then we bend them towards each other
If you make the bunches of protons smaller and smaller you get many many more collisions. You concentrate everything in the same place
That's what these super high field magnets are doing
Installing this is a massive task. It's by far the biggest thing that CERN has done for the last 20 years
That happened this morning and I guess the good news is that CERN turned off
The bad news is is that we're stuck in this timeline until 2030
Like if Pikachu's tail changes once again while CERN is down, we're gonna have questions
They admitted saying that this is gonna be the biggest thing they have done in 20 years
Like almost like the developers were like, hey this simulation
Let's go ahead and hit the pause button right now. Like just imagine somewhere in the universe
They still have CERN going on at this very moment and they're chilling, you know with flying cars
Look, what I do know is that a lot of us are in the same exact boat cool
You want to shut CERN down?
That's okay by all of us as long as our portfolio is in a better timeline the mission to
2030 let's go know what you hold
