The Loneliness of Online Fame

Something really interesting that I've found since becoming more popular online,

I guess, is that I've become a lot more lonely in my real life,

which is ironic because I got into social media wanting to make friends and have connections and community

and I feel like in a weird way it kind of did the opposite.

I still have some really close friends who have been around since the beginning

but I found that forming new friendships, genuine friendships and connections really,

really challenging once you put yourself out there because a lot of people come into your life,

they already have a pre-judgment of who you are in their heads and it's really an interesting dynamic trying to

rewrite your character to them and then you also have people coming in with maybe not the best intentions and it's really,

really hard to kind of understand that initially.

And yeah, I just thought that I would explain my life a little bit as like an online creator,

it's not always sunshine and rainbows and there's definitely pros and cons.

I'm still so grateful to be where I am but yeah,

like I think you look at a lot of creators online and people think that

they have so many friends and they're so popular and they have like the best life ever

but yeah, I don't know how to explain it in a way that doesn't come off wrong

but yeah, it's not always what it seems, I guess.
