Critique of Leftist Economic Views
One of the main issues when it comes to dialoguing with the left
is that they will
be wrong about like a few key issues and then build the rest of their worldview
on those falsehoods, which just makes discourse impossible
because they have
foundationally false assumptions, which means you just can't see eye to eye.
A good example of this is a response video
that I recently made on this app.
In this video, this lady right here claims
that the reason why people feel like the
economy is bad in the UK is because wages and welfare have not kept
up with inflation. But the problem is, this is just not true,
as I also show in the
video. This is something that a simple Google search could have
showed her, which
means that her entire view on the contemporary economic situation in
Britain, which
was her justification for why migration is not bad for the economy, is
false. It's just completely wrong. It's just completely misconceived.
When someone is that wrong about something,
it's impossible to dialogue with them.
It's the same when people say that x country was built by immigrants.
Even in the case of America, you can't even really make this claim
because the
immigrants that mainly built America were white European immigrants.
They did some work and so did some East Asians in, uh,
southwestern America,
in California and areas like that.
But the vast majority was by white European immigrants,
and that's the only country
you can even make the argument. In European countries,
there's just no argument to
be made. Yet leftists will say this on repeat like
they are a broken record.
Their claim that nothing would be built if it was not for immigrants is just
demonstrably false with like a fifth-grade understanding of history.
When Europe was made incredibly rich and expanded a lot, primarily during the
Industrial Revolution, there simply weren't any non-European
people in Europe.
Like the five non-white people who maybe were in Europe, they certainly weren't the
ones who built the entire continent. So this claim is just fundamentally false.
Human nature is a very obvious one.
So many leftists, probably the majority of leftists,
believe humans are good by
nature, i.e., that we aren't selfish, that we aren't self-interested, we aren't
tribal. This is their definition of good.
Again, something that is just completely false.
Whenever they try to debunk this, they only cite studies that
were made on children
because they can't cite any studies made on actual adults, actual grown-ups
because none of them prove their point.
Whenever this has been researched in whatever context,
it has always shown the same
thing. Humans are selfish, humans are tribal and humans are self-interested.
But because they are wrong about that, they are wrong about so many other things.
When it comes to economics, when it comes to crime,
when it comes to immigration,
so many left-wing views are just downstream from straight up
falsehood
