Courtroom Incident Highlights Accountability

This me? How could you watch? How could you

watch?

Hey. I'm sorry.

You asked me to pull up my shirt. Leave me alone.

I don't wanna go to jail.

Calm-

I just tried to defend myself.

First-

He said, "Can, can you please pull up your shirt without

witnesses?"

We're in family court in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Twenty-six-year-old Monica Contreras is here for a five-minute

hearing just to dissolve a restraining order filed by her estranged

husband.

Her two-year-old daughter waits just off-camera.

Before Contreras can even leave, Marshal Ron Fox pulls her

into another room for a drug search.

When she returns, she tells a courtroom marshal she wasn't

comfortable with

how that search was conducted.

Fox doesn't like what he hears and orders her handcuffed on the spot.

Contreras begs to know the charge.

The answer: allegedly making false claims against an

officer,

something that,

as pointed out on camera, isn't even a crime in Clark

County. Hearing Master Patricia Doninger turns

her back on the situation and calls Childhaven, the county's

child protective services, to have Contreras's daughter

removed. Within minutes, a woman at a routine hearing is

arrested, and her toddler is being taken from her.

A five-minute hearing turned into a two-hundred-thousand-dollars

lesson in accountability, but only because the cameras were rolling.

Do you think this ever comes to light without that footage?
