Analysis of Flydubai Flight Hijacking Attempt
Okay, someone out there more intelligent than
me, I need your help.
I don't have the answers, but I have some questions.
By now, you've heard about the attempted hijacking
of the Flydubai flight.
Preliminary information indicates the co-pilot who stabbed the captain acted
intentionally and intended to crash the plane, basically doing a 911.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is also revealing new details, saying the
plane went into a spin and began to nosedive before a passenger
and
crew broke into the cockpit and subdued the co-pilot.
What you saw there was a three-time speed 3D
recreation of the data from the transponder and flight following of
that flight. In case you missed it, here it is again.
Please watch this carefully.
Now, that's just the tail end of that data, but what that shows is the end
of a 17,000-foot loss of altitude, what appears to be a
half of a flat spin, and a recovery.
Total time as far as I can tell is 29 seconds
from apogee, highest point to lowest point,
through the flat spin, halfway of flat spin, to recovery, roughly
30 seconds. And just so you know that I'm not getting my details wrong
about what
the narrative is, is behind it, here is Mr.
Netanyahu himself talking about it.
As during the flight, they were approaching Israel,
one of the pilots stabbed the
other pilot and apparently attempted to crash the plane with
everyone on board. I spoke with one of the Israeli
passengers.
He told me that the plane went into a spin and began to
nosedive. He told me that somehow he managed to break into
the cockpit with one of the crew members, and together they subdued the
pilot who carried out the stabbing while he was attempting to
sabotage the aircraft system. An additional
flight crew was on board, entered the cockpit, and managed to
stabilize the aircraft. I salute these heroes who
demonstrated extraordinary resourcefulness and courage.
They saved many lives and prevented a major disaster.
Netanyahu saying, again, that plane was able to land safely in
Saudi Arabia, and we're seeing reports
that they're trying to get people back on a
different plane to get them back here to Tel Aviv.
So we will be watching that very closely.
Obviously, a lot of families-
Okay, that clip was roughly 60 seconds long.
That's twice as long as the amount of time that the story
he just told apparently takes place in. Aren't cockpit doors locked?
They broke into it? And there also happened to already be
another crew
on board? An aircraft falls 17,500
feet, goes into half a flat spin, recovers in 29 seconds, and
during that descent and flat spin, two individuals break in
to a supposedly secure locked cockpit.
Strong-arm a guy who is armed,
take him
under control, and then recover the plane.
Here's what else is really weird. It's a 737 MAX. That's the aircraft.
Do you remember anything about the 737 MAX a few years ago?
Let me go ahead and just update you on the specifications of how that plane
actually works. So if you remember in 2018, 2019, the
737 MAX had some safety issues. They were, like, just nosing over
and, and basically crashing, and so they had to be grounded.
The problem with the 737 MAX during that time was the
MCAS, which is known as the maneuvering
characteristics
augmentation system. Yeah, I had to look at my screen
and just remember what it
stood for. Now, the FAA, um, will spin-rate aircraft.
I'm gonna oversimplify this, but it basically is the ability for an
aircraft to
come out of a spin. The 737 MAX is not technically spin-rated,
rather the MCAS is meant to prevent it from entering
one. It also prevents the aircraft from going
into a very
steep angle of attack, one that would drop an aircraft
17,500 feet. So an aircraft that has software
built into it that is meant to control it from ever spinning
in the first place,
meant to eliminate its very steep angle of attack that apparently just occurred,
that had a locked cockpit, a secondary crew, and in 29 seconds,
an individual
stabs the other pilot, makes the plane do something
that the software
from the manufacturer itself says it can't do, essentially enters a free fall, and
during that time, two individuals break in, again,
to the locked cockpit, get
control of the guy, hold him down, recover the aircraft.
I'm sorry,
it just doesn't make any sense. I don't know
what's going on. I don't have an answer.
I reserve the right to be wrong, but it is opposite of true,
things you hang on a pole season,
and this seems just par for the course.
Please let me know what you think, and I am genuinely grateful
that everyone seems
to be okay and safe. Glory to God for all that.
As always, y'all take care.
