Four things you must quit to grow closer to God.

I know this isn't about being perfect, it's about being honest.

Number one.

Quit worrying all the time.

Worry feels normal, especially about the future.

I worry about school, friends, a tournament coming up.

But the Bible says, worry doesn't come from God.

Grown-ups, are you worried about your job, your kids, your marriage?

Philippians 4:6 says, do not be anxious about anything,

but in every situation, by prayer and petition,

with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

When I worry, it's like I'm trying to control things

God already promised to handle.

Number two.

Quit speaking negative words over yourself.

Proverbs 18:21 says, the tongue has the power of life and death.

What you speak, you start to believe.

God wants us to speak life, not word curses over ourselves.

Number three, fear.

Quit letting fear control you.

Fear tells you to stay quiet.

Fear tells you to not stand out.

Fear tells you to not trust God.

Second Timothy 1:7,

for God has not given us a spirit of fear,

but of power, of love and self-control.

Fear, that's not from God. Faith is.

Number four.

Quit people pleasing.

I know this one is hard, because I care about what people think.

But caring too much about what people think can pull us away from doing what God says.

Galatians 1:10 says, if I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

You can be kind and still say no.

You can love people and still follow God.

Growing closer to God isn't about adding more rules.

Sometimes it's about quitting the things that keep you stuck.

So if you want to grow closer to God, start here.

Less worry, less fear, less negative talk, less people pleasing,

and more trust in Him.

God walks before you and stays with you.

Clarity comes when you stay close to the Holy Spirit.
