Spain Wins Second World Cup Title
We are standing in the very building, the very home of the world champions,
just about five seconds ago it became official,
Spain have won
the World Cup, their second gold star.
You see this right here, ladies and gentlemen, it is time to add a second gold star
and forever in the history of this planet,
Chattanooga, Tennessee, the scenic city, this community, this hotel,
this building will forever live with that second gold star that will forever be on
this patch.
What an incredible scene this is here at the Embassy Suites where you can see the
decals of the players are still throughout the wall, emotion,
so much emotion, tears are flowing over there from the Embassy Suites.
staff who spent every single
minute with these players here in this hotel for a month
and this city will forever be a part of that story.
It's Ferran Torres, Ferran Torres,
who is the hero with a goal at the very start of the second half of extra time.
Goodness gracious,
did Spain have to work for this victory?
Argentina with a red card late in regulation time and they were down to 10 men
and Spain finally able to break through and finally able to take home their second
ever World Cup trophy and first since
2010. This was a dominant performance from Spain.
It was exactly how many of us thought it would go.
They owned possession, they dominated all of the major chances.
Argentina didn't get a shot on goal until the late stages of extra time and Spain,
the worthy victory throughout this tournament,
owning possession each game they played and showing that they
are a true world champion and I'm not sure they could have done it without
the great people here in Chattanooga,
without the amenities of the Baylor School, without this great hotel,
without their journey through this World Cup and to a world championship.
It's Spain 1, it's Argentina 0 and it is
a second gold star and a world championship for the team, for the players,
for the men and women, for the entire federation that called Chattanooga home for
this World Cup summer.
An unbelievable scene,
an unbelievable day in the history of Chattanooga.
This one lives forever. We'll have much more coverage from this great watch party
coming your way tonight at 10 and 11.
Mary Beth, I mean how awesome is this? Spain, World Cup champions.

at the embassy suites for that monumental win for the Spanish national team.
