Mental Health and Gratitude in Sports
What's happening, gang? Jay Glazer here on my NFL training camp
tour, and wanted to
stop and make sure I continue to do my mental health check-ins.
So today's about gratitude list, and man, I used to wake up every single
morning and dread waking up, dread the problems I'm gonna find on my
phone,
dread just going to bed at night. Just didn't wanna sit there at night
and wait for
tomorrow's problems. So
I got taught by a, a Thai monk how to do a gratitude list.
I was out there in Thailand, and this monk actually said,
"I want you to write down
100 things you're grateful for." And I was so self-loathing at the time,
I couldn't think of anything. I was like,
"Gratitude? I'm not gonna be grateful for anything." I
was just...
Man, I was so down on myself. And he just said, "Well, Jay,
you like your watch?"
I'm like, "Yeah, I like this." "There's one." I was like,
"Oh, we can use things
like that?" He said, "Yeah." He said, uh, "You're a big God guy, right?" I said,
"Yeah." He said, "There's two. You love your son?" "Yeah." "There's
three." So he
actually taught me how to be grateful.
So I wrote 100 things for everything in my life, and
once I got that down, now every single day I wake
up and I write down 10 things I'm grateful for from the day
before or they're gonna happen today. 10 things.
Much better way to live when you live in gratitude.
Give it a shot.
