Ancient Engineering Mysteries in China
Scattered throughout China are hundreds of colossal structures that should not exist.
Stone blocks heavier than anything modern cranes can lift.
Underground cities carved with the precision of machines.
Over 200 pyramids deliberately hidden from the world.
Artifacts cast with technology that was not supposed to exist for another 2,000 years.
Every single one of them points to the same conclusion.
A civilization once walked this earth that was so advanced,
so powerful, and so completely erased from history that we have no name for them.
And we have no idea what happened to them.
Yangshan Quarry, the stone that should not exist.
On the outskirts of Nanjing, China, there is a quarry.
And sitting inside that quarry is the largest stone ever cut
by human hands in all of recorded history. It has been there for centuries, unfinished,
unmoved. The people who cut it never came back.
Nobody after them could move it either.
And the reason why is the first thing that should disturb you.
It weighs 16,000 tons.
The most powerful mobile crane ever built is called the Liebherr LTM 11200.
Engineers spent decades designing it.
At maximum capacity, it can lift 1,200 tons.
To even attempt moving the Yangshan block, you would need more than
13 of those machines running in perfect coordination at the exact same time.
And it would still fail.
The combined weight of the cranes and the block would cause
the ground beneath them to collapse before the stone moved a single inch.
The most powerful lifting machine humanity has ever produced cannot move this rock.
Carved into the bottom are massive square holes,
perfectly cut, precisely spaced.
And because of those holes and the way the block sits partially separated from the bedrock beneath it,
The stone appears to float, a 16,000 ton block of rock hovering above the ground.
Engineers who have examined those holes say their size,
depth, and geometry match no known ancient lifting method.
A 16,000 ton block of rock hovering above the ground.

Ropes and levers do not require cuts of that shape or that depth.
Whatever those holes were designed for, nobody has been able to say.
The most important structural feature of the largest stone ever cut by human hands has no explanation.
Then there is the official story.
The Ming Dynasty,
a Chinese empire that ruled about 600 years ago,
supposedly cut this block for an emperor's tomb.
The Ming documented everything,
tax records,
military movements,
construction orders down to individual bricks.
But for what should have been their greatest construction project in history,
not one engineering record exists.
No transport plan, no labor document, no blueprint for moving a 16,000 ton stone.
Total silence from a dynasty that never stayed silent about anything.
Bronze tools were the best technology ancient Chinese builders had.
Bronze is softer than the stone in this quarry.
Press a bronze tool against this rock and the tool wears down before the stone gives way.
Yet the cuts here are clean.
The corners are exact.
The surfaces are flat across distances that should have been impossible.
None of this should be physically achievable with bronze.
And yet here it is, carved into the rock,
sitting in front of researchers who still cannot explain how it was done.
On the surface of the block are large rounded protrusions called knobs.
The same knobs appear on ancient stones in Cusco,
Peru, and at Giza in Egypt.
Historians claim they were rope grip points used for lifting.
But at 16,000 tons,
no rope system ever invented could move anything using those knobs.
Nobody has ever given a satisfying explanation for what they were actually for.
The tool marks cut into the quarry walls appear somewhere far more disturbing.
The identical marks,
same depth, same angle,
show up at Baalbek in Lebanon and at Petra.
