Earth. The Earth was regarded as the universe

itself. Every other body, the heavens, sun, moon, and stars

being subsidiary to it.

There seem traces of the idea that the world was a disk

bordered by the ocean and Jerusalem as its center.

Heaven. The Jews divided heaven into three parts:

the atmosphere, where the clouds gather; the firmament, in

which sun, moon, and stars are fixed;

and the upper heaven, the abode of God and his angels.
