Discussion on Trump's Russian Sanctions Decision
I wanted to switch gears and ask you about, uh,
this decision by President Trump to
ease Russian sanctions, uh, to get more diesel fuel onto the market.
Obviously, it's been kind of- there's been a lot of reaction to that.
You have a lot of reaction from Europe, um, which is kind of comical
because they, of course, have been buying Russian oil and gas for
years now, and it's without, uh, you know, unstintingly.
Um, you're gonna also get some political
blowback in Congress, uh, and you're
gonna have a lot of people in Congress saying, "You can't do this because of the
Lindsey Gl- uh, Lindsey Graham bill." Um, how are you all going to
navigate that problem?
Well, first, first of all, we, we're going to do it with all the legal
authorities we have. So, you know, anyone in Congress, uh, who
s- says whether it's a, a, an old bill or the current Lindsey
Graham bill prohibits us from doing it is wrong.
And look, President Trump, they came into office with a,
with a mandate
to work for the American people, and this is good for the American people,
and, uh, you know, bring, bringing these diesel prices down.
And to go back to Iran, let's just be clear.
The biggest loser here is the Iranian regime
because they tried to have a choke point on the Strait
of Hormuz. That didn't work. They tried to have a choke point on diesel
prices. Now, that's not working. And Charlie, it's just as you said,
the Europeans have given the Russians more money,
they, uh, since the start of this war, than they have given the Ukrainians
because
they cannot wean themselves off Russian energy.
They had a failed energy policy, and Vladimir Putin,
they, uh, they continue to fund him.
So for them to say that we cannot have a re-
respite in diesel pricing is completely hypocritical.
