Men's Mental Health: Hidden Pressure, Silence and Anger
Nobody gives a fuck about a man's mental health until that shit turns into anger.
Then everybody wanna talk about what kind of man he is.
Man, let me explain something. You wanna know why a lot of men don't
fucking talk?
Because we learned early that nobody really wants the answer.
Mm.
You lose your job, figure it the fuck out. Money fucked up, figure it out.
Bills stacking up and you don't know what to do,
figure it out.
Your woman leaves, get over that shit. You're stressed, be a man.
You're scared and don't know what the fuck to do, stop being a bitch.
So eventually we stop fucking talking, not because we don't feel shit,
man. We feel everything. We just learn how to hide that shit.
You'll see a man at work laughing his fucking ass off with everybody
while the whole time his entire life is falling apart and nobody knows.
Bills overdue, relationship fucked up, family dependent on him,
he ain't sleeping,
his mind going 100 fucking miles an hour.
But watch what happens when you ask him, "Bro, you good?" "Yeah, man, I'm
straight." Nah, the fuck he ain't, man.
Sometimes when a man finally opens up, people don't know what the fuck to do with
it, so eventually he tells himself, "Fuck it, I'll handle it myself." So he
swallows the disappointment, swallows the fear, swallows the pressure,
swallows the
fucking tears, and keeps going like nothing happened.
Then one day all that pressure comes out as anger,
and now everybody asking, "What the fuck is wrong with him?" Maybe
ask what
happened to him. A lot of men barely hear, "I'm proud of you.
You're doing a good job. I know you're trying." Sometimes
that man just
needs somebody to give a damn.
Mm.
And you know what really fucks with me?
For some men, the first time somebody brings them
flowers is at their fucking
funeral. Take your time, brother, and give that man his flowers while he can
still fucking smell them.
