Emergency Response to Child's Medical Crisis
I mean it was horrible
She woke up I left
her just to take the trash out and then settled her back to sleep
And took the trash out and came back and she was arched back and not breathing
And I started CPR I called for my husband he came and continued
I called 911 and they were reassuring because they were giving us all of
the steps and we were doing the steps
And then they
when the first responders came the first person I saw was someone I'd grown up with
and gone down
one of my best friends growing up and is a firefighter
and he came running down the driveway and I thought oh good he'll make sure
that she's fine
And so they came in and couldn't get her breathing
and got her in the ambulance and we weren't able to be in
the ambulance with her so we followed ambulance to the hospital and
they couldn't get her breathing and they
when I heard them call for the second EpiPen I knew that she
wasn't going to respond and so
um so they stopped working on her and we were able to sit with her
for a while and say goodbye but then we had to walk
out the door and we weren't there
