Shortening Prayers and Combining Friday Prayer with Asr While Traveling

We came from the city of Jeddah to visit the Prophet’s Mosque on Wednesday, and God willing, we will return after Friday prayers. May we combine and shorten?

You will arrive on Friday. He says, “We came to visit. We came from Jeddah to visit the Prophet’s Mosque on Wednesday, and God willing…”

This period that you mentioned is a period in which it is permissible for a traveler, if praying alone or with other travelers, to perform shortened prayers.

If he needs to combine them, he may do so, for combining is not obligatory, but rather a concession.

If he does it, there is no sin. If he does not, not doing so is better. Yes.

And Friday prayer with Asr? If it is… If you are going to travel after leaving the mosque and will remain only until Asr time begins, then I hope there is no issue with combining them. Once the imam prays and finishes the Friday prayer, stand and pray Asr,

then travel. But if you intend to stay for the rest of the day until evening, then do not, do not combine them, because most scholars do not consider combining permissible with Friday prayer. Yes.

May God bless you.
