Lisandro Martínez Criticizes Man United Squad Investment After Atlético Defeat

Lisandro, a tough result. F-f-Lisandro, a tough result.

Fi-first of all, how do you sum up the performance?

Really poor. Really poor. I have to control myself a lot, but it's, uh, sometimes it's a reflection of the, of the mirror of how is our, our club at the moment, you know?

Uh, we did an, a fantastic season last season, and now we, we expect more from, from the top, from up, you know?

To bring more, more player to, uh, to compete, uh, because, uh, many, many teams, uh, bring many players as well, and today also Atlético, they have an amazing team.

Uh, and they, they deserve to win today.

So this is not a Champions League quality squad, Manchester United have?

I expect more. Honestly, I expect more, uh- From, from, you expect- From everyone. From everyone ... you, but what you're saying is you expected more investment in the squad- Yeah ... in the summer?

Yeah, 100%. Our, uh ... I expect more from our technical director.

Uh, I will have to be honest, you know? And also, uh, uh- That's fair ... as the players, we have to, to do more, but, uh, it's also important when you make an, a, an, a strong squad to, to be ready to this kind of, uh, night.

In which areas? In defense? In attack? Because obviously there was money invested in midfield.

Uh, in general. In general. I think we, last season we did everything.

We create a base to, to build an, a, an amazing team.

But, uh, this is something to be honest, uh, and to, and to prove something, you know?

Um, yeah, it's, uh, it's annoying, disappointing coming here and, and not seeing my team trying to, to get an amazing result here is, uh, disappointing.

The manager of course gets a lot of the criticism.

Is, is the problem the manager wasn't backed enough in the summer in terms of investment?

I don't think so. I don't think so. He does, uh, he does his best, but, uh, every season is different.

You can't, uh, uh, you can't stay with, uh, what you did, uh, last season.

The teams know, knows you, how you play.

The teams knows every details, you know? And, and if you don't change, next season is, it's a big problem.

Often in this situation it's the manager who is the one that is, is removed. You can't necessarily go upwards.

Yeah, you start, you start changing, changing, changing manager and ... But what about, uh, other areas?

I can't, I can't say more. No, we, we, uh, we appreciate you being so frank tonight.

Of course it's two wins from nine- Because to- also tonight is, it's easy to say the coach, it's easy to say the, the, the players, but also we have to see others, other areas. Huh?

Thank you very much.
