Investigation of Australian Citizens in War Crimes
There are Australian citizens who must be investigated on the possibility of having
committed the crimes of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
According to the Israeli Defence Forces, over 700 Australian citizens were fighting in the
IDF in March this year or March last year, over 700 Australian citizens were fighting
with the IDF at that time.
That is not how many Australian citizens have been fighting with them since 7 October 2023.
Now our commission has found that the IDF has committed war crimes, crimes against humanity
and the crime of genocide in Gaza.
And in our view, anybody who has fought in the IDF in Gaza in the last two and a half
years must be a suspect, a person of interest is what the police use, and should be investigated.
Now Australian law at this stage does not prohibit Australian citizens fighting for
foreign defence forces, it should.
But it does prohibit Australian citizens as a crime under Australian law.
It prohibits Australian citizens from committing war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide
anywhere in the world.
