Rewiring Your Brain with Self-Talk
You can literally rewire your brain by talking to yourself out loud in
the third person. Here's what I mean.
Say your name out loud. This is called distanced
self-talk. When you speak to yourself using your own
name, like, "Vasavi,
you've got this. Vasavi, you can handle this," your brain processes
it
differently. So instead of drowning in the emotion,
your prefrontal cortex kicks
in. That's the part of your brain that gives you perspective,
problem-solving, and
calms you down. Research shows talking to yourself in the
third person actually
reduces stress, regulates your nervous system,
and helps you make better decisions.
So stop waiting for someone else to hype you up.
Say your own damn name out loud. That's how you rewire your brain
