Shoulder Blade Pain Relief Techniques
Most people with shoulder blade pain think
that massaging it or using other fancy massagers
like this will fix it.
But what they don't realize is
the most common cause of this pain
is when there's a problem in the neck
and it gets referred to that area.
So you feel it here,
but the problem's in the neck.
And the second most common cause is
a different part of the spine right here
where the rib heads attach to the upper back.
So all that time you spend
trying to massage the muscle doesn't fix it.
Try this to actually fix it.
You're going to tuck all the way back
and then look up as high as you can
till you feel a moderate pressure.
Then return to the starting position and repeat.
You want to move more through the lower neck down here.
You don't want to move through the upper neck
and compressing the wrong area.
This repositions tissues that commonly come out of position
in the neck referring pain here.
Next we're going to do these rib head rotations
where we rotate our spine all the way
with our hand up by our ear.
And then when we come down rotating
as far as we can,
the elbow comes underneath the hand
and we rotate up again.
So we're getting a full rib head rotation
to mobilize those tight points.
Next we're going to take a double ball
and you're going to lean into the wall.
Reach all the way overhead to straighten your elbows
and then back down.
Try to keep your arms as close to the wall
as you can during this movement.
So you're always pushing back and
keep your abdominals tight because
this flattens and stabilizes the lower back
so that the double ball puts more pressure into the upper back
mobilizing it while you build strength.
