Critique of Canadian Media Coverage
Ah, seriously. Canada is facing one of the worst economic crisis
in its
history, and the media's response
Mr. Speaker, real results, 140,000 more Canadians
in work. The fastest-growing economy in the G7.
But instead, over the last two months, the US has gained almost a million
jobs. Where is the media attacking our prime
minister and
fact-checking his laughable slogans?
Look here, but please, don't look there. Look, let's do this together.
Let's play a game. I'm on CBC News. How much do we have to scroll and how much
digging do we have to do to be able to find anything that mentions the job loss?
The headline is the NYPD body cam footage shows scenes of an officer arriving at
the ICE-involved shooting. Then they talk about the New York mayor
calls ICE rotten
to its core. Then US ICE agent shoots and wounds man.
And then it's more ICE stuff. And then they talk about families suing US
government, ICE officers, and it calls for ICE reform grows,
and what are ICE's
rules for engagement? Then they talk about the Alberta question,
separatism,
Alberta bad, Alberta bad. And then, oh, let's not forget, it's flu shot season,
so... And then, oh, more US. The US plans to live stream a criminal
getting unalived. Okay, cool. Oh, and then of course,
they talk about Poilievre
shrugging off Musk's pro-separatist posts.
Poilievre is like the enemy of Canada, of course.
More Trump, more America. Trump admin hits International Criminal
Court with
sweeping sanction. Residential school denialism, bad, bad,
bad.
Everyone goes to jail if you dare ask questions.
And the Terry Fox run.
Top court sentencing framework. Top five grocery staples. Guys,
where the...
Oh, there it is. We found it at last.
Canadian economy lost sixty thousand jobs in September, right next to Darth Vader's
lightsaber is up for auction, or the famed NFL coach Mike Tice dies
at eighty-six. Very important news that is surrounded by this.
In an actual democracy with a functioning media apparatus, there would
be wall-to-wall coverage of this job loss and economic failures of
the government that's been in power for eleven years.
Look how much you have to scroll to see a tiny little story that talks about this.
Instead, it's wall-to-wall coverage about the US as
usual, about Trump as
usual, about Alberta separatism as usual, about Poilievre
as usual. It's America, America, America.
But you're a Canadian news outlet, and you're failing to keep Canadians
informed
about Canadian realities, even though they're paying you at a tune
of one point
four billion dollars a year to do so and to fail at it, and instead to
fear-monger about Donald Trump, Alberta separatism, and Elon Musk.
