Cooking Japanese Style Eggs
spoon. We're going to come right up here to our boiling
water. We're going to start adding it in
and this is going to start the prep for the cook.
You can see as we're adding it in,
we're getting a lot of cloudiness happening.
It's exactly what you want.
With our chopsticks, and we're just going to kind of
poke these and give them a little stir,
just like this until they're fully incorporated.
You do want to be careful
because that water is hot. We just put boiling water in there.
So if this splashes out a bit, it could burn you.
So just do this part very cautiously.
All right, once we have that fully mixed up,
just like that, we want to go ahead and get our steaming rack.
We're going to place this on top, just like that.
We're going to get these eggs and they're going to place them on top again,
grab the lid and you're going to place it on top just like that.
So our steam can go up and begin the cooking process.
It's been going for a few minutes.
You want to use an oven mitt because
all of the steam is going to make it very hot,
but you can go ahead and pick this up and I'll show you how we finish this off.
First things first, we have to hit it with a little bit of soy sauce.
That's going to add so much delicious flavor to all of this.
We also then want to hit it with some crushed red pepper.
Now if you don't like your stuff spicy you can go ahead and skip this
but I highly recommend using it.
You definitely don't want to skip out on the garlic salt though
that's gonna add so much great flavor to those eggs.
From here we want to make sure we hit it with
a little bit of sesame seeds on top that adds a great seedy flavor as well
as a delicious little crunch to it all.
Now we need to go in with our knife
and we are going to cut this in sort of a grid
lattice formation just like you see me doing right here.
So we want to start from one end and go all the way down
to the other just like that and then we also want to go from one end all the way to the other the opposite way again making a nice little grid.
You can go ahead and dig in and enjoy your delicious Japanese style inspired egg.
