I talked with my mother and my mother said,
oh, it's just what we did to all you boys.
No, it's not a big deal.
I was furious and I told her that.
I'm furious you're not meeting me exactly
with the level of compassion that I'm needing.
And she said, well, take that up with the doctor
because the doctor is the one that cut you.
So I said, what's the name of your pediatrician?
I'm gonna get contact with her.
And I attempted to do that.
But luckily for her,
because she would have really gotten an earful
because I would confront her on her medical malpractice.
She was dead 10 years before that.
So I had to face that part inside of me,
not being able to resolve something that I wanted to do,
which was to have a conversation with the doctor
that literally cut off a lot of tissue
that in dealing with a client,
I need to look at the way that I'm affected by this as well
and be compassionate that other people
are going to have their own unique struggle with this.
And it's going to be highly emotionally charged.
They may have had a circumcision
that is the most difficult to deal with,
with loss of a frenulum or buried penis
or high and tight circumcision,
where even getting an erection is a painful experience.
So I need to meet the person with enough compassion,
exactly where their experience is.
