Overview of Graphene OS Features
This phone right here is used by journalists, politicians,
and hackers all around
the world. This is Graphene OS. Basically, all this is, is you turn a
normal Google Pixel into one of the most locked down Android phones that anybody
can use. So the whole idea of Graphene OS
is for extreme privacy,
whereas like your normal Pixel, not quite.
It doesn't even come with Google Apps installed by default.
But the coolest part is it's super secure, and it gives you full control
over everything on your phone. For example, one thing you can do
is you can disable
the internet for every single app.
So that means if you have an app that shouldn't be accessing the internet
but it
still is because it's getting your data, you can disable all of that with Graphene
OS. But the crazy part is you can block a ton of different
things.
Like you can block them from accessing your accelerometer, your gyroscope, your
compass, and even other devices that they can use to track your data.
You can even set a duress PIN. So this is a completely separate PIN that you can
just type into your phone, and it'll permanently wipe the entire
phone.
It also has a PIN scrambler, so when you're typing in the password to your
phone,
it switches around the order of the numbers so that onlookers can't as
easily steal your password. With Graphene OS,
instead of giving Google Play and
other apps full privileges over your phone, Graphene OS will run them in their
own sandbox so they can't access any of the data on your phone.
