Responsibility for Civilian Casualties in Yemen
The fact is, though, that you bombed the, uh, civilian
airport. It was the Houthis who bombed the civilian
airport.
So I'm not asking about Saudi action at the moment, and for more
than 10 years we've reported at length and extensively,
uh, about the actions of Saudi Arabia in, uh,
Yemen. I'm now asking you about your
responsibility and what
you have done, what the Houthis have done, uh, to these civilian sites
where Muslim pilgrims, civilians were killed at that
airport.
Again, we lay all the responsibility on, uh, Saudi Arabia
because, uh, they are the ones who started the targeting
Sana′a. They are the ones who started, uh, this, uh,
aggression in 2015.
We have, uh, gone through many ways to actually
achieve, achieve
peace and, uh, go through talks with the Saudis,
but they refuse
to end the war. They refuse to end the blocking.
Saudi Arabia wants to continue forbidding the, the
Yemeni people from defending themselves, and there are millions of
Yemenis that, uh, face death, uh, indirectly because of the Saudi
blockage.
Well, from what we can see, and the footage we have seen, is that
civilians have been killed and targeted.
You don't wanna take responsibility for that action, and like I said, we have
reported at length the actions of Saudi Arabia in Yemen
and the killing of civilians. I'm not asking you about, uh,
what the Saudis
are doing. I'm asking you whether you take
responsibility for the
action, and you're saying that you don't.
What do you say to the innocent civilians and their family
members who are mourning the loss and the death, uh,
of, of their families who've been killed as a
result of Houthi
action, uh, in the last few days?
Uh, our goal, our intention, our target is not to kill
civilians. Our target is to, uh, impose,
uh, an, an air blockade for the Saudis.
We have actually warned, uh, Saudi Arabia directly.
We warned, uh, the, uh, all the international airlines.
We warned everyone that all Saudi Arabia airports
have become a legitimate Yemeni military target that
should not be used. But they, they did not listen to
our warnings. You know, our airports, uh, have, uh, have been a milit-
uh, a Saudi military target for years and, uh, we do not,
uh, we do not use them anymore. Uh, we, we, we
actually feel, uh, very sad regarding the civilian
casualties. We are truly sorry for them, but we do not bear
responsibility for the death. The responsibility is borne on the
Saudis.
