Pentagon's Fortress Plan Prepares US Bases for Global War Disruptions
Tonight, the Pentagon is preparing
for the nightmare scenario,
a global
war that knocks out power grids,
cripples supply chains, and cuts
off military bases. Chief
National Security Correspondent
Jennifer Griffin shows
us what's being planned.
The UK and Japan are urging
households to prepare for at least three
days without essential services.
Germany is advising its
citizens to stockpile ten days of
food and water due to potential
Russian sabotage of critical
infrastructure.
The shadow war, as it
is being waged today, has an objective
that goes far beyond
anything we saw during the Cold War.
And now the Pentagon
is updating its doomsday plan,
preparing for a new nightmare scenario, a
global war that knocks
out America's power grids,
cripples supply
chains, and leaves
US military bases cut
off from essential services.
It's more widespread than past Cold
War preparations to move
the top military command
into Cheyenne Mountain in the event of a
nuclear attack.
Under this new initiative,
dubbed Fortress,
every major military
installation
in the US should prepare to
operate independently
for at least ninety days.
Documents obtained by Fox
reveal plans for portable nuclear
reactors, backup power grids, and massive reserves of
ammunition, critical minerals,
medical supplies, spare parts,
and communications capable
of functioning even if GPS and
satellites are disrupted, including survivable satellites and
jam-resistant
communication networks.
The Pentagon wants civilian
factories ready to switch to wartime
weapons production,
with alternative supply chains in place if
foreign suppliers are cut off.
China particularly
has been doing operational
preparation of battlefield
against our critical infrastructures.
What that means is they've
been putting malware,
malicious software, or
determined flaws where they can
penetrate our
critical infrastructures.
The Pentagon's plan is likely
to cost billions of dollars
and take time
to implement at the nearly two
hundred major military installations
across the US, Bret.
Just interesting timing.
You got the UK, all these
warnings from different
countries, and now this.
And don't forget, Salt Typhoon,
Volt Typhoon, that was the Chinese
infiltration hacking of the
critical infrastructure.
That is still ongoing.
All right. We'll watch it. Jen, thanks.
