Parenting and Autism Recovery Journey
It was my lowest time of my life because I didn't know
how to fix my boy.
Mm.
And he was soon, he lost all of his language-
Yeah
... right after that. And then he got an autism diagnosis.
Mm-hmm.
And I was like, "Oh, hell no."
They told me he's gonna have to be institutionalized someday,
that he might not
ever speak. He won't be able to make friends.
He'll never have a job.
Wow.
All of these things, and I remember going home, and I cried
and I mourned, but I'm
not one of those people to s- sit on the sidelines.
I'm a, "I'm gonna figure out how to do it," kind
of a person.
Yeah.
And I went online and I found an organization that said
autism is reversible, and I was like, "What?"
Which organization was it?
It was Generation Rescue-
Okay
... who I wound up taking over, and I was like, "This is a bunch of snake oil
BS." And I was like, "Why don't I dig further?"
Yeah.
And when I dug further, I found it was doctors and scientists on the down
low,
'cause they didn't really have a big platform yet-
Right
... that said, "Hey, we have been helping
children by doing all these kind of treatments that are helping
these kids feel better."
Mm.
And by making them feel better, they were getting better.
Yes.
And so I, that's when I immediately went on the pathway of
healing.
Ah. Well, your son's lucky that you're his mom.
Thank you. I'm lucky that, to have... He's...
Well, I'm lucky to have him, 'cause he is a, literally a living angel.
Mm-hmm.
He is so, such a beautiful little soul.
But the amazing thing was in the beginning, the,
the s- things that they were telling me to do weren't crazy.
It was change the diet.
They're not. They're like, "It's amazing with autistic kids,
take out the wheat and
the dairy-
Right
... which turn into morphine in their guts."
That's right.
"And magically they stop acting like they're on opium a lot of the time."
That's exactly right.
Who, who would have thought?
They weren't stoned during ABA therapy, and now they were able, he was able to
figure out how to do certain things.
Like, in two weeks he start, he said, like, two words
after removing wheat and dairy, and I was like, "Oh my gosh." And then I started
looking at the inside, the mitochondrial.
Mm-hmm.
The, uh, supplements, what he was lacking, the minerals, by supplementing,
by detoxing.
Mm-hmm.
I have to tell you, Dave, when I started detoxing candida out of his
body,
and I'm not one that does anything patiently.
Mm-hmm.
The, like, you know, "You're supposed to go slow so they don't
have a big
reaction." I didn't go slow. I'm like-
... "This poor kid."
I'm like, "I wanna see it now." And he was-
Wow
... dumping. I mean, he was w- catatonic for a minute-
Mm-hmm
... because of the amount of yeast that was coming out.
Yeah.
The more candida that was coming out of his body, the
lights were coming on.
Yes.
The lights were coming on. He was looking at me. He was talking to me.
He was hugging me. He was c- he was smiling.
