I want everyone to know this once and for all. We are not

a state that has newly appeared on the stage of history.

On the contrary, as the Republic of Turkey we are a deeply rooted

state with more than 2,000 years of experience, accumulated knowledge, and legacy in our memory.

Each star on our presidential standard

is a symbol of this ancient tradition.

Now some people come forward, supposedly taunting us. They try

to give us a lesson in history.

Yet we ruled for centuries over lands where those who pick fights with us

arrived only two or three generations ago. We brought order to the whole world.

We became the sword of justice.

As the poet says, once we too were a nation—what a nation we were;

we came into the world and taught what a nation is, what nationality means. We

are such a nation. Not ordinary. To every place where our flag flies we brought only peace and serenity. Every

occupiers.

Friends, don't forget. We are the hosts in this land.

We've been here for 1,000 years. God willing, until the divine Day of Resurrection — that is, until the Day of Judgment,

we will still be here.
