Critique of Canadian Healthcare System
Here's what I think of the Canadian healthcare system.
Three years ago today, Canada left my wife to die and rot in
the Canadian healthcare system when she was diagnosed with stage four
ovarian
cancer. They left her with no hope.
They sent her a pamphlet on how she can kill herself on MAID in the mail,
and they forgot about her until at a last-minute decision, she chose to flee
Canada and come to the United States to save her life when she was so close to
death.
Mm-hmm.
We're so grateful to be here in the United States, to live in Texas, where she's
still fighting cancer, but here we are. We're sitting on top of the world.
Look, we're here we are.
Woo.
You know, she still has the strength and stamina to hike two hours up to this
mountain peak, something that would never have happened had we
stayed in Canada.
She'd be dead. That's what they told her
was gonna happen.
Yep.
But death is not an option in the United States. The healthcare is superior.
Mm-hmm.
I can say that as a Canadian. It is absolutely superior-
Absolutely
... to Canadian healthcare in every which way.
"Oh, oh, but you're gonna pay so much money,
you're gonna go bankrupt." Well, maybe
if you don't have good insurance. But you know what?
Even if you go broke, death is not an option.
Mm-hmm.
No one's gonna tell you to go kill yourself.
Yeah.
This is evil. Absolutely evil, and Canadians have made this their
culture,
that it's normal and okay to just go kill yourself because a doctor says that
there's no hope. Canadian doctors are so strained.
Some of them are just stupid.
Some of
them... Death.
Where's the death? Do you see death? I don't see death.
I see somebody fighting who just hiked two, two, two hours up a mountain peak
while she's still on some kind of chemo.
You know? This is... We're so grateful to be here in the United
States, and we're
so grateful for all your prayers and support.
Totally. Thank you.
We're thankful to God that the fact that she's living
and breathing on this earth
three years later on top of this mountain peak.
Now, we, we forgot water, so I don't know how we're getting down.
We might actually both die together.
It's fine.
But Canadians, man, you're paying all that money for, for what?
For all this healthcare, so that way when you get cancer someday, you're,
you're...
Th-th-the system's supposed to be there for you, not to tell you to die.
Do you know what doctors tell me here? They tell me to live my life.
They tell me to go out and do things like this.
We're doing things.
They tell me that every day counts. Nobody in a, in, in...
Nobody in America has looked at me and said,
"You're gonna die." Nobody has said,
"You know, you've only got so, so long to live."
They tell me to keep fighting, keep living,
and keep showing up for treatment.
Here's what I think of the Canadian healthcare system.
