Iran’s Youth: Lack of Recreation and the Emotional Toll of Protests

We're finished. Iran's kids are finished.

Iran's young people are running out. There's nothing left of us anymore.

Aside from last night's issue, I just came to say one thing and go.

Here in Iran, in Iran, there's no special festival, nothing that our kids, our teenagers, can do without paying much— Now you want to go to an amuse— you want to go to an amusement park, An amusement park. The last time I went,

each ticket cost me 200. We can't, guys, we don't have a way for young people to burn off energy, for our teenagers, who have so much energy, we don't have a way for them to burn it off like that.

Then you come and say, "Event— Nima, why had so many gone?"

Then you come and say, "No, you should've held yourselves back and not gone to protest."

You knew you were empty-handed. As a human being, I can't watch someone right in front of me— Okay, you're practically... okay, all of these, they're all a kind of coup, okay.

But the one, the one, the one up there, What do you think the person who wants to go up there is thinking?

When they don't see anyone, they see that nobody came.

They see that this crowd—no one came. At least they know that now, as they're going, these people who came show that what you did wasn't in vain.

At least your life— it's worth more than a life, more than one person's life.

For example, I'm here right now. If they told me, "You're not here anymore," I'd do it.

How much courage would I need to go and do that, to have them take my life?

This is more than—this doesn't exist for me.
