Discussion on Feminism and Patriarchy
Women are oppressed.
Uh-huh.
Historically, they were oppressed.
Yeah.
And we need to rectify that in some way.
That's not feminism.
That's the premise of feminism.
No, the premise of feminism is that they're oppressed by a patriarchy,
so the patriarchy must be deconstructed.
How do you get to egalitarianism if there's a patriarchy?
Well, that's the conclusion. The conclusion is egalitarianism.
I'm not agreeing with the conclusion.
No. No, no, no. That's part of the premise,
is we're moving towards egalitarianism.
We get there by the conclusion, deconstruct patriarchy.
No, the premise is that when women are, like, emotionally equal, that doesn't mean
that they're biologically equal.
I don't think there's a single, like, feminist in the world who agrees with
that.
So-
Then why the are all the feminists in the world, even in fourth wave feminism,
opening up male-dominated jobs to women, knowing that they do terrible
in them?
Because they don't think they're gonna do terrible in them probably.
Yeah, because-
Bias
... because they see no distinction.
I don't think that there's a disagreement on women being physically weaker.
Maybe really stupid feminists would disagree with this, but-
No, no, no, they would, uh, concede that wo-
They are biologically different
... women on average are weaker.
Yeah.
But not, they would just say but they can compensate for
that in other things, and
the reason that they don't go into these industries is traditionally due to
oppression from the patriarchy. The patriarchy is a monolith,
has to be in order to have enforcement.
So they want the monolith to be torn down to the next mo- monolithic stage, torn
down, torn down. Conclusion of, of feminism is always deconstruct
patriarchy, always.
