Testimony on Palestinian Treatment in Israel
I was reminded of the painful reality of Palestinians
when I was in prison. Just hours after being
sexually assaulted, minutes after being beaten, an Israeli
prison official
reminded me of, of the reality, which is
that my treatment was nothing compared to
that of the Palestinians.
What was said to me was that the real prison
was underground in the
torture dungeon underneath the prison, where Palestinians are
raped to death. Now, this should come as no shock
to the Australian public or the Australian government,
given the fact
that just week- last week, the UN found that Israel
systematically uses rape as policy.
It should shock the Australian government in no way that
Australian women are coming back reporting sexual assault and
including rape, given these findings, given the fact that there is
insurmountable evidence that Israel uses rape
as a weapon of war. It should shock no one that we were
assaulted. Israel has killed hundreds of thousands of
Palestinians in the last few years alone, and it is able to do
that due to the impunity it is afforded by the Australian government
and
other complicit countries in their genocidal campaign.
I
really deeply care about Palestine. I really deeply care about all people.
That's why I went, 'cause there is a, there is this,
this group of people who are
under this brutal occupation, and my government
was doing nothing to stop
it.
